I am pretty proud of myself this year and actually making use of a few of those pins I saved on Pinterest I love Pinterest for house ideas, recipes and kids crafts.
I thought it would be fun to show how I took some ideas to use as our own. Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. I love that things slow down with work so I can do fun things with the kids and family, the whole spirit of giving, people are generally kinder, and the excuse to add sparkle to the house. My grandma always had the best decorations for the house, she would do a theme: the year of angels, sleighs, or vintage skaters. Her house was always gorgeous at christmas.
My mantle (I adore a well decorated mantle). And I especially love battery operated candles since I am a bit of a fire hazard freak. THose are from Michael’s. Another one of my favorite and easy decorating thing to do is fill vases and bowls with ornaments. It is cheap and easy! This wreath was made last year by my mom’s neighbor who is an amazing interior decorator. Like I said before, I love a bit of sparkle and I would say i lean towards a more modern style than traditional. This year at least. I went with a classic stocking from Pottery Barn when Owen was born knowing that my style would change and you could not go wrong with a standard stocking.
This wasn’t inspired by anything, but I love to share it. it is our theme tree, which is a firefighter theme. We cut down a fresh tree too that holds all of our personal ornaments.
I was crazy for printable art this year

My kitchen table is nothing special. We decided to keep it until the kids are older, but I still love to dress it up.I loved the idea of using a serving tray so it is easy to move when the kids want to do crafts. All found at Target.

one of my favorite pins this season was the kitchen window. I love my window because it looks out on a farm field. So dressing it up would be perfect. Everything found at Michaels and ornaments from Target.

A new discovery for me this year was fresh cut garland. Tom hates it (it is messy he thinks) but I have yet to find it being an issue. I think it adds such a warmth to the house.
apparently I was behind on this trend since it is in almost every pin I pinned. I love this pin below..

The last new thing to our house this year is a countdown activity. Ava helped me stamp the envelopes to open, and I could only find tiny number stamps. I thought it would be fun to either have candy, holiday activities that we have planned (polar express tickets, movie tickets), crafts, baking, and random acts of Christmas kindness for the kids to open every day.

I hope you all enjoy the season as much as we intend to!
Warmly,
Gins & Family
Gorgeous my talented friend! You have a creative gift!
Gina, first of all your house is gorgeously decorated! Second, you have just made my life (and the rest of my Christmas shopping for my extended family)so easy. My grandfather used to sing “Oh Holy Night” every Christmas Eve for us. He has since passed away but that song still remains in my families heart. I hope you don’t mind me stealing the framed wall art idea from you. I love it! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
